ROOM | DESCRIPTION |
Junior Common Room (JCR) | The Finnegan Family Junior Common Room is the House living room. It's a large room intended for informal gatherings of students. It contains comfortable furniture and 2 grand pianos. The JCR is a walk-through space. How to reserve: The JCR is primarily meant for Kirkland's own events. In special circumstances, Kirkland students can request the JCR for their student clubs. JCR reservation requests require 2 weeks' notice. Students can submit their request through RoomBook and then should send an email to the House Administrator (kiadmin@fas) describing the event and what room set-up they would need. |
Senior Common Room | The Senior Common Room is best for Tutor study breaks and House events. How to reserve: Students can submit their request through RoomBook and then should send an email to the House Administrator (kiadmin@fas) describing the event and what room set-up they would need. |
Community Kitchen | The Community Kitchen is in the D-Entry basement. How to reserve: Kirkland students can reserve through RoomBook |
Grille | The Grille is in the D-Entry basement. This space has a tv and lots of seating. How to reserve: Kirkland students can reserve through RoomBook |
Private Dining Room | The PDR seats up to 10 people around a table. How to reserve: This room is typically reserved for 1) language tables and 2) Kirkland and IOP guest speakers. The PDR cannot be reserved for student group meetings. Kirkland students can reserve through RoomBook |
K Seminar Room | This room has a large table, chairs and a blackboard and can hold up to 15 students. It is typically used for weekly meetings/study groups. How to reserve: Kirkland students can reserve through RoomBook |
Screening Room | In L-Entry basement. This room has surround-sound, a projector, a screen, and comfy movie chair seating. It can hold 12 students. How to reserve: Kirkland students can reserve through RoomBook |
Art Room | In J-Entry basement. No reservation needed. |
Meditation Room | In K-Entry basement. No reservation needed. |
Music Practice Room B | This room contains an upright piano. Hours are 10am-10:30pm. How to reserve: Kirkland students can reserve through RoomBook |
Music Practice Room C | This room contains a grand piano. Hours are 10am-10:30pm. How to reserve: Kirkland students can reserve through RoomBook |
Quiet Study Room | In B-Entry basement. This room contains two large tables with seating. No reservation needed. |
Reservation Guidelines
Ground Rules
- You must be a Kirkland House student, Aide, or Tutor to reserve a room. Rooms are made available at the discretion of the Kirkland House Office and can be revoked or reassigned at will. Privileges will be revoked if rooms are 'sublet' to outside groups.
- Treat Kirkland's spaces with respect. If you notice something broken or missing, please submit a Work Request to the Building Manager.
- Kirkland's quiet hours begin at 11pm
- All kitchen utensils are for use in the student KITCHEN ONLY. Please do not remove, even if you intend on returning items.
